Some introductory reading will be expected over summer. AP Government is intended to offer an extension of the existing Social Studies offerings. The primary focus of the curriculum is the structure and function of the US Government although foreign and local governments will be analyzed as well. This should be seen as a college-level course (rather than college-prep) and has the obvious goal of preparing students for the AP exam in May. Although class discussion, debates, and simulations will make up a large part of the course experience, assessments will also include essay questions and multiple choice tests over each unit.
