AP US History

Some introductory reading will be expected over summer.  AP US History (1492 – present) is a challenging college-level course (rather than college-prep) and has the obvious goal of preparing students for the AP exam in May.   This course surveys American history from the age of exploration and discovery to the present. Solid reading and writing skills, along with a willingness to devote considerable time to homework and study are necessary to succeed.  Emphasis is placed on critical and evaluative thinking skills, essay writing, interpretations of original documents and historiographies, and seminar discussions/debates.
