It is hard to believe that the one-year anniversary of the flood has already arrived. Our schools in Lyons, which were displaced for part of last year have started the 2014 school year stronger and looking towards the future. The two schools are each taking the time to remember the flood, but continue to focus on growing stronger as students, as schools, and as a community. The unity created from the flood is unmatched and we look forward to celebrating the school year as our schools rise above the challenges that are presented to them
Lyons Middle Senior High, spent part of the year at our Main Street School location, while their football team had to finish the season at a district field located in Longmont. On Friday, September 12, Lyons Middle Senior will kick off the school year with the 18th annual Lyons Community BBQ and varsity football game. With “Rise Above” as their event theme, it is a celebration of being back home at their school and on the football field. There is nothing like playing on your home field in front of your classmates, parents and community. Join the community of Lyons from 4-7:00 p.m. for a barbeque and stay for the game as the Lions take on Front Range Christian high school.
