New traffic control lights at Ute Highway and McConnell Drive in Lyons

In the very near future the new traffic control lights will be up and running at the intersection of Ute Highway and McConnell Drive in Lyons.  For a few days prior to them functioning normally, they will be flashing yellow and/or red.  This intersection is extremely busy especially during the week when the schools are in session, especially at the designated drop off times and also during the weekends. As a safety reminder, I want to remind everyone what the different flashing colors mean.  Flashing yellow indicates that the operator of the vehicle can proceed with caution and continue through the intersection but should be cognizant of the traffic lanes that they are crossing.  Flashing red indicates that the operator of the vehicle should treat the light at the intersection like they would a “stop sign”. The vehicle must come to a complete stop and only proceed through the intersection or conduct a turn when it is safe to do so. It is very important to realize that if traffic coming from the left or right has flashing yellow that they do not stop but proceed through the intersection with caution.

My concern is for the safety of all.  With this being a new traffic control light in Town and with many new drivers (students) having to navigate with the new traffic control lights, I want everyone to be aware.  Can you please share this information amongst your family and friends please.
